Meet Angie Berthelsen (Owner/Yoga Instructor/Personal Trainer/Thai Bodywork Practitioner)
I have been practicing yoga for 9 years and other forms of exercise for over a decade. I have my 200 Hour Yoga Certification along with my Certification in Prenatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Aerial Yoga and Trauma Sensitive Yoga. In addition to Yoga, I teach group fitness classes for Seniors and am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a NASM Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist. I am also certified in Thai Massage and have my master's degree in kinesiology.
Yoga gives me purpose and direction. I practice yoga because it helps me not only get to know my body but love my body. Yoga teaches me to be present and mindful which are two attitudes that I have become very passionate about. I enjoy adding a little bit of mediation and breathing exercises to my classes to help teach others how to be mindful and present.
In addition to teaching, I spend a lot of time continuing my education by attending workshops and seeking new certifications.
As much as I love yoga, I also love other forms of exercise. I work with a personal trainer regularly. I strongly believe that exercise can be healing in so many ways. I suffered for a long time from chronic pain due to herniated discs and exercise is what saved me from being bed ridden and living each day in pain. I love helping others lead better, healthier lives and showing them that it is possible to feel good. We are all stronger than we think we are!
Meet Erika Rodriguez (Yoga Instructor)
I was introduced to Yoga in 2012, and fell in love with it after taking only one class. I became not only physically stronger, but also mentally stronger, on and off my mat.
I began learning new ways to deepen my practice and having a desire to share it with others. This desire guided me to pursue my 200-hour RYT Yoga Teacher-Training Certificate.
My style aims to inspire, motivate, and empower students to share and practice Yoga with their friends and family. Yoga can be a positive way of connecting with yourself, with your family and with others. Whether you're in a room with strangers or practicing Yoga with family or friends, each person participating in the class will leave feeling more connected to one another.
In 2016, I became a 200-hour RYT Yoga Teacher through The Lotus Yoga Centre and I am also registered with the Yoga Alliance. I continue to attend numerous workshops and classes to deepen my knowledge and ability to teach my students. I look forward to seeing you on the mat as I continue to spread my love for Yoga to others!
Meet Nikki Zuniga (Yoga Instructor)
Yoga has been part of my life for over 15 years. I began practicing yoga while I was working a demanding job and experiencing migraine headaches. I was intrigued by alternative medicine and natural healing and found pain relief through my yoga practice.
As a mother of 3 boys, my life is busier than ever but I strive to find my balance by practicing yoga regularly.
After trying a variety of yoga classes , I decided to pursue yoga teacher training. I’ve completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher’s Training with Anita Maher at Lotus Yoga Centre.
Yoga inspires me to live each moment mindfully and have fun. I love to share my yoga knowledge and passion with others. I believe every one can benefit from yoga.
My hope is my students will step off the mat feeling nourished, relaxed and more balanced.
When I am not practicing yoga, I enjoy spending time with with my family and friends especially hanging out at the beach or boating. I also enjoy reading, photography, traveling, studying essential oils and reiki.
Meet Jojo Marino Sorgani (Yoga Instructor)
Yoga has been a part of my life for 17 years. I first came to yoga because I'm a hairstylist and have been for many years. My neck, shoulders, overall body was hurting? My first class happened to be on 9-11-2001. I debated going to class because of what just happened at the World a Trade Center, in New York.
I felt confused and scared for our country. The yoga teacher started the class by setting an intention of peace to the world . We did some breath work and I began to feel more relaxed. When class was over , mentally I was in a better place than when I walked in. Realizing then yoga wasn't just about the physical body, but also about connecting the mind and spirit.
My practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and balanced both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.
I completed my 200 hour training at the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in 2016. In that same year I went to India with many of the students and teacher from the Center. The lessons I have learned from that experience will stay with me forever. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the wisdom my teachers have shared with me.
In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. My hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.
Meet Erin Murphy (Yoga Instructor)
Hi, I'm Erin! I have been practicing Yoga since around 2002 when a friend asked me to join her in a class. I had immediately felt that the practice held something special. It wasn't until I started practicing consistently that I felt the effects throughout my entire life. Yoga has helped me through all the ups and downs in life as well as multiple decades in a physically demanding job of dog grooming. Upon realizing I wanted to share these gifts with others I received my 200 hr teacher training at the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in Palatine. I have been teaching since 2013. When I'm not on the mat you can find me outside enjoying my dogs, gardening, hiking, biking and travel.
Meet Tara Hallsten (Aerial Yoga Instructor)

Meet Megan Janz (Yoga Instructor)
I found yoga in 2014 when I became pregnant with my first son. I began going to class a couple times a week and found myself looking forward to attending. It was a healthy way for me to relax and relieve tension. After the birth of my son I struggled with bad anxiety/postpartum depression and committed myself to attending class regularly. I noticed a difference in how I felt after attending a class. Yoga was helping me calm my mind both on and off the mat. I give yoga credit for helping me heal my mind and my body. My yoga practice became a special escape just for me. I became obsessed with attending as many classes and variety of classes that my schedule would allow.
My love for yoga led me to want to learn more. I decided to enroll in a 200-hr teaching training. I received my 200-hr RYT yoga teaching certificate through Lotus Yoga Centre in 2017. After receiving my certification, I dove right into teaching. I believe everyone can benefit from yoga and look forward to sharing those benefits in each class I teach.
My advice to everyone on the fence about trying yoga…just do it! The yoga community is full of such wonderful welcoming students and teachers. I feel so blessed that I found yoga. It has become not just a hobby for me but a lifestyle.
(When I am not practicing yoga I love spending time with my husband/2 sons, baking, boating and being outdoors.)
Meet Cathy Henry (Yoga Instructor)
I began practicing yoga with regularity about 10 years ago as a means to find a healthy outlet during an emotionally challenging time. Yoga helped me find emotional and physical balance,
and also cured some nagging knee and hip pain that had crept into my body.
In March of 2017, I decided to deepen my understanding of yoga principles and pursue the 200 hour RYT Yoga
teacher training through Lotus Yoga Centre with Anita Maher. Yoga has helped me become more mindful and continues to provide physical and emotional benefits to my life.
I love to share yoga with students at I Heart Yoga and believe that everyone can benefit from this
Meet Stephanie Walker (Yoga Instructor)
I became interested in yoga many years ago after a family member introduced me to the practice. I started taking classes and loved how it made me feel, physically And mentally.
When Angie started her teacher training program, I wanted to learn more. I went on to get my 200hrYTT.
I love to share the practice with others and continue my journey through classes and workshops so I can be a better teacher.
Meet Wade Balsamo (Yoga Instructor)
I am a simple Yogi on this mindful journey, seeking peaceful happiness through steady constant practice, and sharing what I learn. I was introduced to the magic of meditation as a teenager, and I fell in love with yoga in my mid-20s when I realized the power of mindful motion. I became a RYT-200 in 2019.
I primarily teach Pranayama, Asana, and Dharana (breath, posture, and mindfulness) as an ancient technology for self-regulation, a system to pull oneself together, drawing physically and emotionally into balance.
By using the breath to develop concentration we are training the mind body connection, and strengthening will, in every posture. With practice you will learn to overcome yourself, to get out of your own way and find a renewed appreciation for the ability to transform who you are in each moment -- physically, emotionally, spiritually.
My classes follow the alignment-based Anusara line of the Hatha yoga tradition, to build in tandem our muscle strength and organic flexibility through the humbling power of postures.
I teach students at all levels. As much as I love sharing advanced postures that command all of a yogi's attention, I equanimously embrace every time we renew those most basic foundations of practice, and I've a deep admiration for ability to appreciate each unique experience for the first time, which we learn from the beginner's mind.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
