Meet Angie Berthelsen (Owner/Yoga Instructor/Personal Trainer/Thai Bodywork Practioner)

I have been practicing yoga for 5 years and other forms of exercise for over a decade. I have my 200 Hour Yoga Certification along with my Certification in Prenatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga and Trauma Sensitive Yoga. In addition to Yoga, I teach group  fitness classes for Seniors and am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. I am also  certified in Thai Massage and working on getting my master’s degree in kinesiology.

Yoga gives me purpose and direction. I practice yoga because it helps me not only get to know my body but love my body. Yoga teaches me to be present and mindful which are two attitudes that I have become very passionate about. I enjoy adding a little bit of mediation and breathing exercises to my classes to help teach others how to be mindful and present.

In addition to teaching, I spend a lot of time continuing my education by attending workshops and seeking new certifications.

As much as I love yoga, I also love other forms of exercise.  I work with a personal trainer regularly. I strongly believe that exercise can be healing in so many ways. I suffered for a long time from chronic pain due to herniated discs and exercise is what saved me from  being bed ridden and living each day in pain. I love helping others lead better, healthier lives and showing them that it is possible to feel good. We are all stronger than we think we are!

Meet Erika Rodriguez (Yoga Instructor)

I was introduced to Yoga in 2012, and fell in love with it after taking only one class. I became not only physically stronger, but also mentally stronger, on and off my mat.

I began learning new ways to deepen my practice and having a desire to share it with others. This desire guided me to pursue my 200-hour RYT Yoga Teacher-Training Certificate.

My style aims to inspire, motivate, and empower students to share and practice Yoga with their friends and family. Yoga can be a positive way of connecting with yourself, with your family and with others. Whether you’re in a room with strangers or practicing Yoga with family or friends, each person participating in the class will leave feeling more connected to one another.

In 2016, I became a 200-hour RYT Yoga Teacher through The Lotus Yoga Centre and I am also registered with the Yoga Alliance. I continue to attend numerous workshops and classes to deepen my knowledge and ability to teach my students. I look forward to seeing you on the mat as I continue to spread my love for Yoga to others!

Meet Nikki Zuniga (Yoga Instructor)

Yoga has been part of my life for over 15 years. I began practicing yoga while I was working a demanding job and experiencing migraine headaches. I was intrigued by alternative medicine and natural healing and found pain relief through my yoga practice.

As a mother of 3 boys, my life is busier than ever but I strive to find my balance by practicing yoga regularly.

After trying a variety of yoga classes , I decided to pursue yoga teacher training.  I’ve completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher’s Training with Anita Maher at Lotus Yoga Centre.

Yoga inspires me to live each moment mindfully and have fun. I love to share my yoga knowledge and passion with others. I believe every one can benefit from yoga.

My hope is my students will step off the mat feeling nourished, relaxed and more balanced.

When I am not practicing yoga, I enjoy spending time with with my family and friends especially hanging out at the beach or boating.   I also enjoy reading, photography, traveling, studying essential oils and reiki.

Meet Jojo Marino Sorgani (Yoga Instructor) 

Yoga has been a part of my life for 17 years. I first came to yoga because  I’m a hairstylist and have been for many years. My neck, shoulders, overall body was hurting?  My first class happened to be on 9-11-2001. I debated going to class because of what just happened at the World a Trade Center, in New York.

 I felt confused and scared for our country. The yoga teacher started the class by setting an intention of peace to the world . We did some breath work and I began to feel more relaxed.  When class was over , mentally I was in a better place than when I walked in. Realizing then yoga wasn’t just about the physical body, but also about connecting the mind and spirit.

My practice has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and balanced both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.

I completed my 200 hour training at the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in 2016. In that same year I went to India with many of the students and teacher from the Center. The lessons I have learned from that experience will stay with me forever. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the wisdom my teachers have shared with me.

In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. My hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.

Meet Tracy Jayko (Yoga Instructor)

I experienced yoga for the first time as a teenager.  It wasn’t until many years later did I really devote my self to the practice.  Yoga became more than just another form of fitness.  I began to notice the calm and peace I felt after each class.   

In 2017, I received my 200 RYT Certification from Lotus Yoga Centre following in the Himalayan Tradition.  I am also a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance. 

When I am not practicing or teaching yoga, I spend my days as a floral designer.  I love to garden, play with my dog, and paint watercolors.  My classes tend to reflect my creative and fun side.  I love to laugh.  Where there is laughter, there is health, happiness and love.  Words cannot express how truly blessed I feel to be able to share the beautiful journey of breath, body and spirit through yoga. 

Meet Petra Craddock (Yoga Instructor)

I started practicing yoga in 2006 when I was pregnant with my first child to help ease the pains of pregnancy. Since then, my practice has continued to grow. Eleven years and two kids later, I turn to yoga daily to nurture my body, mind, and spirit. Yoga gives me a sense of balance and peace. For me, it is both a physical and spiritual practice.

 I received my 200-hour RYT yoga teacher certification of the Himalayan tradition through Lotus Yoga Centre in 2016. I am registered through Yoga Alliance. I am also Reiki level 1 certified (currently working on level 2).

My style of yoga incorporates creative Hatha flow sequencing with an emphasis on alignment, strength, openness, stillness, and breathwork. My classes are heart-centered and inspirational, and I modify for all levels. I also add in music, props, and meditation techniques to help everyone go within and find their center.  I focus on the mind-body-spirit connection, and strive to help my students find balance, centering, and peacefulness in their practice. I also focus on strength and flow in the practice, ensuring students get a workout as well as find stillness within. In my classes you come for the exercise but stay for the relaxation. My goal is to help students feel better when they leave than when they came in.

Meet Erin Murphy (Yoga Instructor)

Hi, I’m Erin! I have been practicing Yoga since around 2002 when a friend asked me to join her in a class. I had immediately felt that the practice held something special. It wasn’t until I started practicing consistently that I felt the effects throughout my entire life. Yoga has helped me through all the ups and downs in life as well as multiple decades in a physically demanding job of dog grooming. Upon realizing I wanted to share these gifts with others I received my 200 hr teacher training at the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in Palatine. I have been teaching since 2013. When I’m not on the mat you can find me outside enjoying my dogs, gardening, hiking, biking and travel.

Meet Dana Daniel (PiYo Instructor)

Dana Daniel is a NASM Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. Her favorite format to teach, as well as her favorite personal workout, is PiYo. As someone who has practiced yoga for most of her adult life and loves athletic workouts, PiYo is the ideal combination of both. She loves introducing PiYo to new participants and offers options in every class so that everyone feels successful. When not teaching class or training clients, Dana enjoys time with her husband and two kids. Weekends are usually spent attending the kids’ athletic activities, taking family walks or watching a movie together. If there is any time in between activities, you can find her reading a book!

Meet Sonal Patel (Yoga and Pilates Instructor)

Sonal Patel is a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor from Banglor India. She has been teaching and learning yoga continuously for last 10 to 12 years. It would be perfect to say that,” YOGA IS HER LIFE.” Her goal in life is to share her knowledge as an instructor of yoga and pilates to all of her students to gain physical strength, stability and flexibility as well as calmness, happiness and bliss in the mind through various aspects of yoga. Apart from yoga and pilates, she is a Zumba instructor, fashion designer and dancer.

Joey Diehl (Yoga Instructor)

Joey Diehl began his yoga journey in 2011, after almost a decade of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA training started taking a toll on his body. He started seeking ways to alleviate pain, increase flexibility, and rehab old injuries. His technique focuses on mobility and alignment techniques, inversions, and partner acro yoga. Joey also holds yoga certifications in Yin & Meditation, yoga medicine labs, and functional anatomy mobility.
